The Barnsley Kerala Cultural Association (BKCA), established in September 2021, is a vibrant community organisation based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, dedicated to promoting and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Kerala, a state in southern India. Established by the local Malayalee community, the association serves as a hub for social, cultural, and educational activities that connect people of Keralite origin and those interested in the culture. BKCA organises various events throughout the year, including festivals, traditional music and dance performances, food festivals, and religious observances, which offer a glimpse into Kerala’s diverse traditions. The association also plays an active role in fostering community cohesion, supporting newcomers, and raising awareness about Kerala’s unique art forms, language, and history. Through its efforts, the BKCA strengthens the cultural fabric of Barnsley while offering a space for people to share their heritage and build lasting connections.
